· Sort out your Kit. Separate
out all the cardboard pieces
· Paint edges of all cardboard
page pieces with black acrylic paint.
(not the surfaces but the
actual cut corrugate edges)
· Paint edges of flowers, set aside
· Paint flourishes black
(surface and edges)
· Paint labels black
· Paint Victorian cardboard( for front) rectangle black
Next we are going to glimmer mist the flocked pieces
and the book page flowers- you will need foam brushes, paper towels and a blow
dryer (not a heat tool)
· Lay out all of your pieces
· Shake your mist to mix the glimmer
· Spray over all the pieces in
a generous manner (we are trying to die the flocked fibers (if the fiber are
white)
· Lightly dab the liquid mist
with your foam brush
· Blot with paper towel and
dry with blow dryer on LOW heat setting.
Gather together all of your die cut pages…arrange
them on the cardboard pages before adhering to make sure you have the ones you
want facing out(since many are double sided) making at least one of the pages
the black crown print for your cover. Set cover aside.
· Adhere to cardboard (I like
to suggest zip dry and a brayer to smooth it out and to create a good adhesion
· Swipe edges of pages with
black or red ink (depending on the color of the pages and your personal
preference.
Next we are going to use glitter. You will need, your large Victorian
rectangle, your flourishes, flowersand labels, paper lace and white glue. If your glue is a bit thick, use a few
drops of water to thin it out a
bit it. It is easier to use when it is the consistency of acrylic paint. You
will also need a make up applicator or small paint brush to get in all the
nooks and crannies of your cardboard.
·
Cover entire front of flourishes with white glue and cover with glitter color of your choice.
·
Paint edges of rectangle and labels with glue (some of my students did the edges
of some of the pages, and the edges of the flowers as well, it is totally up to
you and your taste) Most of my students found it easiest to pour a pile of glitter onto a paper plate and dip glue painted edges into the glitter.
·
Your paper lace is self
adhesive, remove the backing and apply glitter to adhesive backing. (Now would
be a good time to look into your own stash and check out what kind of stickers you have left. Flourishes,
labels, shapes, flowers etc…all can be glittered on the adhesive backed side to
create additional glitter embellies.
By now your glimmer misted papers are
dried…cardboard is painted, pages are wall papered and you are ready to create
your large flower for the front of the book. You will need your Music flowers,
book page flowers, and your metal brads, black ink pad, cropodile, and Zip dry
or large glue dots.
· Adhere the 2 large flowers
to the cardboard flowers.
· Swipe the edges of cardboard
flowers and book page flowers with black ink. You may want to use a make up
applicator to really work the ink into the inner parts of the flowers.
· On the two large cardboard
flowers, bend the petal forward and pinch the petals a bit to make them “come
alive”
· Choose the metal brad you
would like for the center of your flower.
· Cropodile a hole in the
center of your book pages flower and in the center of 1 cardboard flower.
Glue the flower without a
hole to the center of Victorian rectangle
· Using the metal brad attach
the book page flower to the remaining cardboard/music flower. And glue this
flower to the cent of the flower that is on the rectangle. Making sure that you
ONLY GLUE THE CENTER OF THE FLOWER NOT THE PETALS. We want the flowers petals
to bed forward.
Now would be a good time to put your pages in order
and make your hole for your rings.
I suggest making your holes 1 ½ “ from either end and ½ “ from back.
Now that your pages are
arranged lets do the cover.
· I chose black crown pattern
for my cover
· Adhere Victorian rectangle
to front cover with bottom of rectangle
flush to the inverted curve
of the cover.
· Adhere paper lace across top
of cover page just below the holes for the rings.
· Finally we need to arrange
the flourishes…before adhering arrange flourishes in a diagonal fashion (3 on
each diagonal arrangement) the other 2 will have the ends cut a bit and tucked
under the top and bottom
Using the rest of your labels and brads, lace and
tulle. Embellish to your own personal taste.
